The delicate chaos of the Vela Supernova Remnant, glowing in a narrowband SHO palette.
Vela SNR in SHO
This image captures a small but incredibly rich section of the Vela Supernova Remnant, where the remains of an ancient stellar explosion spread across space in a maze of luminous filaments. Rendered in SHO, the scene becomes a tapestry of gold and blue shock fronts, with fine threads of gas folding over one another in layers of texture and depth. Even in a relatively tight field, Vela feels immense. The broken arcs, hollow cavities, and tangled edges hint at the force of the original blast, while the intricate details give the remnant an almost organic appearance. It is one of those deep-sky objects that looks less like a nebula and more like a living structure shaped by time, energy, and turbulence.
